The backbone of any advocacy effort is an efficient, effective, and easily mobilized grassroots operation. Members of Congress are most responsive when they are contacted directly by their constituents and can best be spurred to action via an organized grassroots communication drive.

Families of SMA has worked very hard to develop a foundation on which the views of the SMA community can be heard on Capitol Hill by creating a Legislative Action Committee (LAC), a grassroots network to educate our legislators. The LAC was established to bring attention to the major issues that people with SMA confront every day.
