Planning a Golf Tournament
- Organize a Committee: Never lose focus of your mission. Recruit people who will put their heart into the event and are committed for the right reasons. Involve everyone and give each a responsibility, big or small. Encourage each committee member to take ownership.
- Develop a Timeline and Budget: Create a timeline to stay focused. Create a budget worksheet to realistically estimate revenue and expenses for the event.
- Choose a Format: Keep your tournament fresh, exciting and unique by carefully selecting a format, contests, and courses.
Solicit Sponsors: This is another way to raise funds for your tournament. Sponsors can help sell the event, bring in other sponsors, underwrite expenses, provide prizes/gifts, and participate too.
- Promote the Tournament: Not only will publicity and special promotions help you sell your event, it will instill pride in your volunteers. It also helps provide awareness for Families of SMA and a basis for future contacts and team sales.
